Week One: Recipe One

Recipe: Spiced Pears and Pomegranate Dessert
  • Ingredients Needed:

3 pears - peeled, cored and cut into wedges - BOUNTY

1 pomegranate, skin and light-colored membrane removed - BOUNTY

    1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

    2 tablespoons light brown sugar

    1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons finely chopped almonds (optional)

4 sprigs fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Place the sliced pears and pomegranate seeds into a bowl. Toss with lemon juice to coat. Combine the brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a small cup or bowl, then mix into the fruit. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to blend the flavors. Serve in individual dishes, and garnish with a sprinkling of chopped almonds and a sprig of mint.

This recipe was delicious! The only thing I might change is to possibly cook the pears so they are soft... or if I wanted to leave them chilled I might add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Absolutely a great recipe and a great dessert, plus REALLY easy to make.

P.S. I still have 2 more pears and 1 more pomegranate left!

  1. I made this recipe but I followed the suggestion you made to cook the pears. I steamed them for 5 - 8 minutes in my microwave steamer and then made the recipe as directed. I am going to refrigerate overnight and have this for breakfast, but my taste test proved that this was, indeed, delicious.

  2. Ok, so to make this even more "breakfasty", I toasted 1/2 cup of oats in my toaster oven this morning and tossed it in... WOW... it was so good. I hope Curtis didn't eat it all so that I can have some for tomorrow.
